The literature on mindfulness often talks about the concept of "being present. Often when we begin class there is a disconnect or delay in being able to get students and the professor to be present and ready to engage the concepts being covered that day. Each person is bringing with them what was happening just prior to class with them. So when the class begins it is usually a cold start and trying to get them to focus on the topic at hand let alone a continuation of concepts from days before can be difficult.
